Hale Center Theatre

For Christmas last year, Jeff and Annie surprised me with season tickets to Hale Centre Theater.  They got four tickets to each show since Jack was not old enough to attend.  Thanks to all our babysitters throughout the year, Grandma Richards, Aunt Kristin, & our sweet neighbor Michaela, Jeff and I were able to attend several shows with Henry and Annie.

The shows we enjoyed during the year were The Game's Afoot, Zorro, Father of the Bride, Sound of Music, Oliver!, and 9 to 5 the musical (Jeff and I attended this one without kids...it was definitely our least favorite production of the year).  Henry loved the mystery and humor in The Game's Afoot and enjoyed the action packed sword fights in Zorro.  We all loved Sound of Music since the movie is one of our absolute favorites.  Annie particularly loved Maria's wedding dress with the long train and hopes to wear a similar one some day.  It was also fun to find out that the girl who played Liesel was the voice of Lani the ladybug in one of the kids' favorite videos, Scripture Bugs.  We spoke with her after the show and she sang a little of a couple songs from the video..."Down, Set, Go Everybody" and "I'm A Child of God".  Oliver! was a fun show for us to see as well because one of Henry's soccer teammates had a part in the production.

Our last show of the season on December 17th was the beloved story of A Christmas Carol.  We were all excited to see the production especially since we had front row seats.  About the time the ghost of Christmas future made an appearance, Annie decided front row seats might not be as fantastic as she originally thought.  The ghost was pretty scary dressed in a long, black, hooded robe and standing about 10 feet tall!  Overall it was such a fantastic show!  The kids enjoyed their usual intermission chocolate chip cookies and we really enjoyed feeling the spirit of Christmas that night.
"God bless us, every one!"
Our seats were the four front row seats just above Annie's head in the photo below.

  1. What a great gift! So glad you got to enjoy it throughout the year. A Christmas Carol is the perfect play to end on.
