GRAND TOTAL OF 8012 PAGES...with 4 more days left in the month!!!
At the age of 11 years old, I'm positive Henry has managed to read more books for pleasure than I have in my entire life...probably in just this past month! I am so proud of him and he inspires me to read more. It's not that I don't like to read, it's just that as soon as I finally find the time to sit down to do it, I'm so exhausted that I fall asleep before the end of the page.
What is great is that Annie has become an avid reader as well. Almost every night I have to force her to put the books away and turn off the lights because it's an hour or more past her bedtime and she doesn't want to stop reading. If only I had a dollar for every time I've heard..."Just one more page?"
Jack is also starting to read really well and I hope he will follow in his siblings footsteps with an insatiable appetite for books.
As you may have figured out, at this rate it is hard to keep up the supply of books for Henry that are at his reading level but also contain age appropriate material. I would love to be able to read any book he is interested in before giving them to him but he would be waiting for a month for me to finish a book that he will finish in 6 hours. We used to ask the Murray librarian for book suggestions but she has almost run out of books that he hasn't read. Now when she sees Henry coming she just says, "Oh you're the one who has read everything!"
I have to now rely on recommendations from others. I try to research the content of any book suggestions on Commonsensemedia.org to determine if it is age appropriate for him. So...if you have any book suggestions please send them my way. If it is a series of books, even better!
And in case you were wondering, yes he has already read the following series...Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Chronicles of Narnia, Fablehaven, Artemis Fowl, Pendragon, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Warriors, Seekers, Inkheart Trilogy, Underland Chronicles, and Michael Vey.....just to name a few. :)

He could start reading phone books... Or all the books he's read, but in German.
ReplyDeleteHe's read more in a month than I've read in my life!
Chris
Maybe he'll have to start reading the classics, if he hasn't already. Though he may not enjoy them as much yet. I'm with you - I want to read more books, but they put me to sleep right now.
ReplyDeleteI love this post and all the pictures. :) Henry is being such a great example to his younger siblings! I know you've told me for years that Henry reads a lot and that he reads fast...but I was SHOCKED when I saw that list! Absolutely shocked!
ReplyDeleteThat is so impressive! I hope my kids turn out to be readers. He is so darn cute too. Better practice keeping the girls away.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed after seeing the first series of books, but then... HOLY SMOKES, the list goes on and on! That's amazing!
