Yes I Can!
Don't you just love the fact that young kids think their parents are superheroes and can do anything? Last Monday Annie informed me she had until Friday to turn in a book report about a wild animal...no problem. The book report also needed to include a paper bag puppet of the wild animal...no problem. She then told me that it was ok to make the puppet out of something else because her friend Lucy had her mom make a fox puppet by sewing leather together. So, since Lucy's mom sewed a puppet, Annie wanted me to sew her a puppet. Not only did she want a snowy owl puppet but she wanted the puppet to have wings that she could put her fingers into and move around. NOW WE HAVE A PROBLEM...I DON'T SEW. I tried to tell that to Annie but she gave me her biggest puppy dog eyes and said "You can do it Mommy!" I couldn't help but give it a try after that but I made her promise she wouldn't be upset with the finished product. After a couple late nights of working together and two attempts, (thank goodness I had enough sense to purchase extra fabric), this is what we ended up with. I know it's not perfect but Annie loved it so that's all that matters to me. And next time one of my kids asks me if I can do something, I guess my response should be "Yes I can!"

Great job, Denise. Yes, you can for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt's SO CUTE! :)
ReplyDeleteWait...is this a snowy owl like in Harry Potter? Maybe it should have a brown paper "mail" in one of it's claws addressed to Mr Potter! :) Then you'd have the brown paper bag category of the puppet requirement fulfilled!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm building a house because before I had a chance to read this I noticed your cabinets. Love them! That was one of the styles we were looking at. But I am super impressed with your owl too! You are a wonderful mom!
