1st Day of School 2012

Here we are again...the start of another school year.  It's bitter sweet for me because this is Henry's last year at elementary school.  By this time next year I'll have one in junior high and all of them in school full time and my days to myself.  I really want to savor this year and volunteer at the schools as much as possible.  As much as I say I can't wait until all the kids are in school full time and I can use the extra time to really focus on taking care of myself, my family, and my home...part of me dreads the thought of them growing up and moving on.  It's a difficult part of parenthood BUT I do find great joy in seeing them learn new things and become independent.  There's a certain confidence that comes from not having to rely on Mom anymore and knowing they can do things for themselves.

Reunited with best friends Siena and Lucy.
 Back in class.
I love watching the kids interact with their teachers and friends at school
How I wish I could be a fly on the wall.  :)
Henry thought he had the coolest new shoes and coolest new glasses in the whole 6th grade.
I'm just lucky enough to have the coolest kid in the whole school!!
So...here's to the start of another year.
May we all get through it successfully and without a lot of drama!  :)

  1. So well said! Even though it will be a while until I'm where you are I feel the same way. It's amazing to see them grow and learn but part of me wants them to be content cuddling me and running errands. Love your cute signs and darling kids.

  2. Way to go with all the updates! Daniel keeps telling me we need to go to Kennecot. Your pictures do make it look pretty cool. I like what you said about sending the kids to school. We just decided for sure to start Emersen in preschool in January, and I'm already feeling bittersweet about it! Once she starts school, she'll always be in school, and I'm not sure I'm ready for her to grow up yet! So I imagine I'll be like you and enjoy watching her learn and grow. You said it well.
